Ready, set, STRIKE!

The Annual Carrom Competition has become a much-anticipated event in the STMWS calendar, bringing together members and their families for a lively day of friendly competition, camaraderie and fun. From seasoned players to those simply enjoying a game with family and friends, the competition provides an opportunity for participants across generations to connect over the timeless game of carrom.More than just competing for the win, it is about strengthening bonds, sharing laughter and keeping a well-loved tradition alive within our community. Our 2026 edition, held on 27 June 2026, was another successful gathering, and we thank all participants and supporters who contributed to making the event an enjoyable and memorable one. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the next edition!

The STMWS Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an important fixture in the Society’s calendar, providing members with an opportunity to reflect on the year’s progress, review key financial and organisational updates, and contribute to the direction of the Society. Held on 15 February 2026, this year’s AGM also set the direction for the year ahead, with a strong emphasis on community bonding, youth engagement, education, strengthening Islamic values, and the long-term sustainability of the Society.The year ahead will also see STMWS strengthening its community and external outreach, introducing programmes relevant to members at different stages of life, improving internal processes, and creating more opportunities for younger members to be involved — laying the foundations for the Society’s continued growth and leadership renewal. The AGM reaffirmed our commitment to remain connected to our members while continuing to evolve to meet the needs of our community.

The blessed month of Ramadhan is a special time for our community to come together in faith, fellowship and reflection. On 7 March 2026, STMWS held its Annual Iftar Gathering at Masjid Al-Amin, continuing a cherished tradition of bringing together members, their families, community partners and our Bangladeshi brothers living and working in Singapore. The gathering reflected the spirit of generosity and togetherness that defines Ramadhan, with the Iftar meal generously sponsored by our members. This year, we also came together for a Qiyamul Layl gathering on 14 March 2026, providing another meaningful opportunity for our members to spend the blessed nights of Ramadhan in prayer, remembrance and spiritual reflection. Together, these gatherings embody STMWS’ commitment to nurturing our bonds with one another while deepening our connection with Allah (SWT) during this blessed month.

Following the wonderful response to our previous bowling event, STMWS is looking forward to bringing members and their families back to the lanes in November 2026 for another enjoyable day of friendly competition and community bonding. Whether you are chasing strikes and spares or simply joining in for the fun, our bowling event is all about bringing different generations together, sharing laughter and strengthening the bonds within our STMWS community. Eid with STMWS is always about celebrating togetherness. Our Eid Celebrations bring members, families and friends together to reconnect, strengthen bonds and share in the joy of the festive season as one community. Our most recent celebration in 2025, themed “Eid Together – Celebrate Eid, Celebrate Togetherness,” welcomed an overwhelming response, with 320 guests filling the Grand Ballroom at SAFRA Choa Chu Kang. The evening featured lively entertainment, games, a best-dressed competition and, most importantly, plenty of opportunities to catch up and celebrate with one another. The wonderful turnout and warm response from our guests made it a truly memorable celebration and a reflection of the strong sense of community that lies at the heart of STMWS. We look forward to celebrating Eid together again!

A day of celebration, connection and unforgettable memories! On 16 November 2025, Angsana Green at East Coast Park came alive as 550 members, families and friends gathered for a spectacular STMWS Family Day — a fitting celebration of our 85th Anniversary and the strong community that has grown with us through the years. The success of the day was the culmination of almost four months of detailed planning by an organising committee comprising Management Committee members and dedicated volunteers. Every detail was thoughtfully put together to create an experience for all ages — from the energetic emcee and exciting relay and stage games, to the goodie bags, delicious food and an impressive line-up of lucky draw prizes. There was truly something for everyone. Children played, families competed, old friends reconnected, new friendships were formed, and generations came together in laughter and celebration. More than just a day of fun, Family Day 2025 was a celebration of who we are as STMWS — our people, our bonds and our enduring spirit of community. After 85 years, that spirit remains as strong as ever. A milestone celebrated. Memories created. Bonds strengthened.

At STMWS, we believe that the effort, perseverance and achievements of our students deserve to be recognized and celebrated. While our previously planned Student Appreciation Movie Day did not take place, our commitment to recognising the hard work of our members’ children across all levels of education remains strong. We want them to know that their efforts throughout the academic year are seen, valued and celebrated by the wider STMWS community. We are currently exploring ways to make this recognition even more meaningful by bringing it together with another STMWS event — creating an occasion to celebrate their achievements while strengthening connections across our community. The Rabiul Awwal Maulid remains one of STMWS’ cherished religious traditions, bringing members together in remembrance of the life, character and teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Held over the first 12 nights of Rabiul Awwal, members gathered each evening for the heartfelt recitation of the Maulid, remembrance of Allah (SWT), and reflection upon the beautiful example of our beloved Prophet ﷺ. The gatherings were made even more meaningful through the generosity of members who contributed food and refreshments for those in attendance. Continuing our collaboration from the previous year, STMWS also joined hands with the Singapore Kadayanallur Muslim League (SKML) and Masjid Al-Amin to organise the Podhu Murai at Masjid Al-Amin, bringing the wider community together in remembrance and celebration. Through these gatherings, we hope to continue nurturing our love for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, drawing lessons from his exemplary life and strengthening the bonds of faith and community that unite us..

Our Senior Members Visit is a meaningful STMWS tradition that gives us an opportunity to reconnect with and show our appreciation for the seniors who have been an important part of the Society and our community over the years. The visits are especially meaningful when our younger Management Committee members and volunteers take part, creating opportunities for different generations to connect, share conversations and learn from one another. For our seniors, particularly those who have previously served the Society, it is also a reminder that their contributions and ties with STMWS continue to be valued. As a small gesture of appreciation, goodie bags and cash vouchers are presented during the visits. Through this initiative, STMWS continues to honour our seniors, strengthen intergenerational bonds and nurture the spirit of care and community that has long been at the heart of the Society.

The inaugural STMWS Ladies Walk 2026 - Faith in Every Step: Walking with Gratitude and Purpose, held on 6 September 2026, brings our ladies together for a 4.5 km reflective walk beginning and ending at Masjid Jamek Queenstown. Designed for ladies, by ladies, the walk features five reflection stations inspired by authentic Hadith, weaving together faith, wellness and community bonding. The initiative received an overwhelming response, with registration reaching full capacity well ahead of the event. In the spirit of giving back, the walk is also accompanied by a donation drive in support of Muhammadiyah Association, adding a charitable dimension to every step of the journey. As part of our educational upliftment efforts, STMWS organised Secure Your Future: Finance for Young Muslims on 26 September 2026 at NTU@one-north, with a focus on equipping young Muslims with practical financial knowledge grounded in Islamic principles. The programme covered essential areas such as budgeting, smart saving, and halal approaches to growing and protecting wealth. Through expert sharing, open discussions and Q&A, participants gained practical insights to help them make more informed financial decisions and plan confidently for the future. The programme also provided a platform for young Muslims to connect, exchange perspectives and take meaningful steps towards greater financial awareness and independence.

Giving back and staying connected with the wider community remain an important part of STMWS’ efforts. We are planning a community engagement initiative in November 2026, bringing our members together to contribute meaningfully, connect with others and make a positive difference beyond the Society.
